I have this model by chance. I was shopping in the electronics components' shop of the German company Völkner in Braunschweig, when I saw a plastik bag full of model locomotive components. The price was 20 Deutschmarks, and I considered this as a good buy, even if the accompaining paper warned that the kit has no motor and gears. That time 20 Marks had a bit higher value than now, some Roco diesel models were still offered for less than 100 DEM. The amount and quality of the loco components in the bag promised, however, a nice model.
I made the motor mount and the geartrain rather quickly. At the same time I removed the cast-on components from the boiler and cab, like the reverse rod and the piping. After that a long period followed without any activity. I decided to paint the loco to preussian green rather than the later applied flat black of the Reichsbahn. It was not quite clear which color is those "preussian green". This question triggers flame wars among the German modellers. After all I've found a book describing this color and I followed this recommendation. I had no experience in the airbrush technology and only after finishing the Class V40 Kando model I started to finish the T3 kit.
