Pictures of MÁV Class 377 and 370 steamers
This is the Class XII (later 377,041) 0-6-0T engine of the MÁV "Nostalgia" stock.
The Class 377 "Duck" was the standard branchline loco in the 1890's.
Only a few survived from them, as small station switcher.
The photo was taken on the locomotive show on 7th July 1993 in Budapest.
The photo shows the external Stephenson valve gear of the Class 377 steamer.
The Walshaert (Heusinger) valve gears were first used in the late 1890's in Hungary.
This is a Class 370 engine (370,011).
This class was intruduced to substitute the Class 377s on longer branchlines,
where the tank engine's water and coal supply was unsufficient.
On this photo, on the locomotive show on 7th July 1993 in Budapest,
it pushes a large snow-plow.
