Pictures of MÁV Class 375 & 376 steamers

MÁV Class 375 loco minipic The Class 375 (former Class TV) engine of the MÁV "Nostalgia" stock (375,562). These engines were built from 1908 to replace the obsolete branchline engines. This was a rather long living class, the last steam locomotive built for MÁV in Hungary was the 375,1032 in 1958. Of course many improvements were applied during these 50 years. The photo was taken on the locomotive show on 7th July 1993 in Budapest.
MÁV Class 375 loco minipic This is the same Class 375 engine on the locomotive show.
MÁV Class 375 loco rods minipic The valve gear of the Class 375. You can observe the rather complicated reverse lever system having an extra lever below the crosshead guide. This was probably designed to overcome the place shortage below the tank. On the late Class 375s it was replaced by a simpler gear.
MÁV Class 375 steamer minipic This is another member of the Class, the 375,008 on plinth in Csopak, the north shore of the Lake Balaton. It is not alone on show, a water crane and some old semaphores are also there. The rich red lining is not authentic. The picture was taken on 19th August 2004.
MÁV Class 376 loco minipic This is a Class 376 (former Class TVa) engine. This class was the "small sister" of the Class 375, designed for branchlines with axles load limit less than 10 tons. This engine, the 376,631 is on plinth in Zalaegerszeg.
MÁV Class 376 loco minipic This is another Class 376 engine, the 376,642, on plinth in Kaposvár.
