Pictures of MÁV Class III (later Class 335 and 341) steamers

Outside frame loco on plinth in Linz/Austria This is an old outside frame steamer on plinth near the railway station in Linz/Austria. This is one of the oldest existing Sigl external frame engines. It shows all characteristics of the Hungarian Class III engines. The frame is very similar and the proprtions are the same. There are differences in the stack and the smokebox shape. The checkvalve is also different, probably an early type. The cab is similar although it was probably added later - the first engines were built without any cab.
335 loco minipic This is the Class III (later 335,095) engine of the MÁV "Nostalgia" stock. Probably this is the oldest operating external frame engine, it was built in1870 by Co. Sigl in Vienna. The photo was taken on the locomotive show on 7th July 1993 in Budapest.

MÄV Class 341 loco minipic This is the Class IIIk (later 341,012) engine of the MÁV "Nostalgia" stock. This was built in 1889 by Co. Wöhlert, Berlin/Germany. The photo was taken on the locomotive show on 7th July 1993 in Budapest.
MÄV Class 341 loco rods The crosshead, yoke, main rod and crank of the Class 341engine. You can compare with the same part of the Class 335 steamer. Although this locomotive was built almost 20 years later by a different manufacturer, the components are almost same.
