Pictures of MÁV Class III (later Class 335 and 341) steamers
This is an old outside frame steamer on plinth near the railway station in
Linz/Austria. This is one of the oldest existing Sigl external frame
engines. It shows all characteristics of the Hungarian Class III engines.
The frame is very similar and the proprtions are the same.
There are differences in the stack and the smokebox shape.
The checkvalve is also different, probably an early type.
The cab is similar although it was probably added later -
the first engines were built without any cab.
This is the Class III (later 335,095) engine of the MÁV "Nostalgia" stock.
Probably this is the oldest operating external frame engine,
it was built in1870 by Co. Sigl in Vienna.
The photo was taken on the locomotive show on 7th July 1993 in Budapest.
