Photos of the Canadian Pacific Business Car model
A kitbashing project
This was the kit just off the box. You can clearly observe the different
materials used for this kit. The car sides are from metal sheets, the floor
and roof from wood, and the ends, the platform and the small parts from pewter
casting.
The body after glueing the sides and floor sheet together. Due to the very
different materials glueing was the only method to join them together. I
used slow setting Epoxy for all glued parts.
The body from the bottom side. The "fishbelly" center sill is also from wood.
After painting it black, nobody knows.
The car standing on its own wheels. The roof ends are already grinded to
shape.
The car from another view. The trucksides are pewter castings but they were
cleaned and upgraded heavily.
The other side of the car.
The ready made, painted car. Under the paint it is not at all visible, how
different metarials were used to build it!
The other end of the car. Unfortunately it has no internal details and this
shows on a photo made with flash.
The platform end from the other side. The CP color was mixed from different
artist's paints.
Close view of the platform.
The decals. Unfortunately I did not follow the hints of the experienced painters
who tell us NOT to apply decals on mat surface. I did all my bests, covered
the decals with several layers of mat varnish, but the decals do not lie
well on the painted surface.
