CAD drawings of MÁV open freight car models

Jkn-car CAD drawing minipic The original open freight car, "gondola", Class Jkn. These cars were built from 1891. The cars had 4.5m wheelbase, 8.0m body length and steel frame.

Jkn-car CAD drawing minipic The Class Jkn car main frame. This is very similar to the earlier boxcar frame, but both the chassis and the wheelbase are longer.

Jkn-car CAD drawing minipic The front view of the open freight cars. Actually in this view both the Jkn and the Jkh types were similar.

Braked Jkn-car CAD drawing minipic The hand braked version of the Jkn Class open freight car. The brakeman's cab and platform was mounted on the top of the sidewalls at one end of the car. This way it did not decrease the place for goods. The cab roof is rather low as it had to fit into the clearences.

Braked Jkn-car CAD drawing minipic The front side of the braked open freight car. The cab was pushed to the right side of the platform. The front wall was equipped with steps and a small console to ease climbing for the brakeman. But he had to leave the cab when he wanted to activate the brakewheel.

Braked Jkn-car CAD drawing minipic The brake rigging. This is an early, asymmetric version, the difference to the symmetric type of the G-Class freight car is obvious. Modeling this is a bit troublesome, as two rods cross below the axle.

Jkh-car CAD drawing minipic The longer version, the Class Jkh. The production of these cars started in 1901. Both the car body and the wheelbase are considerably longer than the Class Jkn. The wheelbase was 6.0m and the body length 10.0m.

Jkh-car CAD drawing minipic The frame of the Class Jkh cars was similar to the later boxcar frame construction. This was, however, an earlier design as the later boxcars were first menufactured in 1914.
